days 89 90 91 go west!!

Day 89
Was just a day spent at Keflavik waiting really!
Killing time with a wander around this what can best be described as a frontier town!
There's a certain emptiness about the place, it's days of being a fishing town seem gone , now it's catch is people like me waiting a few days for flight connections!
I did enjoy a last wander along the harbour as it once was, the monument represents the town .. pretty accurate I guess!
Tho there is a funkyness about Iceland and it shows here! they love their trolls!
Taking a last chance at the Icelandic delicacy(?) I stop at a hotdog takeaway! no idea what they put in them but they taste damn fine!!
Chatting with the girl behind the counter I had a little fun, we were talking about the beauty of Iceland she said it's not so great here, indicating her I just said there's always beauty! She blushed beautifully! There's a wonderful almost innocence about the people here, likely due to separation from the huge crowds you get elsewhere... It's so nice to see, the girls response was equally nice!
Throwing random complements makes the day sparkle a bit!
When your only company is netflix on the Blue Viking guesthouse TV you make the most of those moments!
A quick grocery shop and I'm back at in my holding position for the night.

Day 90
A morning of waiting and preparing before I check out at 11am.
It's only an hour's walk to the airport, I need the exercise!
It feels good to just stop every now and then to look back with fondness at the icy mountains , this has been such a great experience ... Hopefully I'll come back one day!.... Tho perhaps just enjoying this one amazing visit will be better, unless I manage a summer visit? .... We'll see!
Into the airport and a four wait to board is interrupted by border control, seems Canada is a bit sticky about letting random travellers in and random is certainly my way of progressing, after about half an hour on the phone getting questioned about myself, my reasons for entering Canada my plans, which as ever will be made up as I go along, my employment, how long I'd been travelling, how much I'd earned while travelling(£000) , thinking to reassure them that I'm financially independent I told them my bank balance which then confused them more by saying about my choice of shelter.... Seems they aren't too aware of hostels for travellers! They pointed out that there was a large homeless population ..... Nice! Ok I'm effectively a hobo right now but it's a choice!!!
They eventually say that they'll let me board ... I think it had been a close call!
the troll was certainly more friendly!

Just after 4 we board and an hour later we're taxi'ing along the runway, with my paid for window seat I get a view back to the area subject to the volcanic eruptions two weeks ago.... Still smoking! taking off a last glance at Keflavik town, you can just see the blue warehouse with red roof centre left of the image where I'd stayed near the coast!all too soon Iceland is behind me and the next adventure looms!
As expected my flight goes right over the tip of Greenlandat this point I'm further from home than I've ever been!!
(Sam would understand eh frodo)
And we're given a treat!
The view of Greenland is incredible! Sea ice going out miles possibly!a glacier seems to cover the whole of the land beyond or perhaps over the mountains!
With the now familiar glacial flow!absolutely beautiful!
And as we fly over New Foundland and Quebec the scenery proves if less mountainous equally wild I'd not fancy my chances getting through here on foot!I've now travelled farther than Leif Erikson! And looking down I can see why the Viking attraction at L'Anse aux Meadows on the north tip of Newfoundland island isn't open until June!
The more you look at this land the more it sinks in that if you want to see something you really going to have to make the effort with distance travelled!
Landing at Toronto Pearson airport I've certainly made that effort since I started I've travelled 21,998 km! On planes trains and automobiles!
A last train journey to down town Toronto at
1.40am my time
9.40 local time
2.40 UK time....
Life gets confusing!
Tho my first view is pretty exceptional..... The C N tower! a quick taxi to the hostel and I'm down and out...... A wry grin on my face at that thinking of Canadian customs!!!

day 91
I've slept so damn much!!! And I'm still knackered!!
It's gone midday Iceland/my time before I get dressed, and it's gone midday Toronto time before I get up and move!
There's a roof bar and terrace at the hostel, a bit shabby but the views good for towny views!I've not eaten for a day now with the change in time zone, and I'm not hungry, wilted just not hungry..... But I know no matter what my body says I've got to fuel it, going for a familiar Subway meal is as healthy as I can be bothered with!
A grocery shop and I'm done, back to hostel bed to fall asleep again!
It's now 1am my time 9pm local time..... Hopefully I'm adjusting already! The morning will show that!
